Katie Dashwood, Member of the Guild of Food Writers, is a freelance food and cookery writer and her first cookbook – DISHES WITH DASHERS – was published in 2008 and has been well received. (see reviews taken from Amazon)
As a self taught cook, Katie is well known for her cookery demonstrations which distill that element of fear that grips some people when they enter the kitchen. Hence her demos are eminently practical and instructional whilst being presented with light-hearted humour. They rely on simple, quick’n slick recipes utilising easily obtainable ingredients which produce successful and delicious results. To this end, Katie uses seasonal and, wherever possible, locally grown produce.
As part of her business, Katie is also a party professional. Be it one of her sumptuous picnics for a day’s racing, a visit to Henley Regatta, a ride across rural England ; lunch or dinner parties; a full-blown rock’n roll ball as well as entertaining based on the ‘more dash than cash’ basis, you can discuss your own requirements and obtain a quote by emailing or telephoning Katie as per Contact Us. Furthermore, she is a year-round supplier of specialist foods such as foie gras, superior fish products; finest cheeses and whole baked hams. She will also pack you up your very own tailor made hampers.
Katie has been a freelance journalist previously writing on food and cookery for many national publications including The Spectator, The Field, Country Life and Irish Food & Wine.
She has made programmes with Country Channel TV (; guest appearances on Radio Gloucester and has featured regularly in the food columns of local and regional newspapers and magazines. She also gives talks at Literary Events around the country on Entertaining; has acted as ‘Compere’ for Cookery demonstrations at County Shows and in 2010 participated in the Cookery Theatre at H.R.H. The Prince of Wales’s ‘Garden Party with a Difference’ held at Clarence House, which concentrated on organic, seasonal hero foods. Click HERE for those recipes.
